What is an offer?

An offer is a promise to do or not to do something.

The party who makes the offer is called the “offeror”.

The party to whom the offer is made is called the “offeree”.

A genuine offer should be open to be accepted, rejected or countered by the offeree.

There are offers to enter into contract and invitations to treat.

In the video below The Law Guide UK takes a look closer look at how to make valid contractual offers.
